Food: was hands-down, delicious we had asked for suggestions on drinks and food and boy did our waitress give us the right recommendations. Everything was flavorful and yummy. I told her I was on the hungry side after I finished my meal there was no room for dessert afterwards or so I thought! I also had the guava and cheese pastry that was supposed to be to go but my friends decided to have another round of drinks so that pastry was a goner! We ate outside in their outdoor seating and it was perfect. We people and dog watched and just really enjoyed brunch. Go here!!!

Omg this place did NOT miss. My friends took me here on a Sunday because they live a couple of blocks down. No wait. Super nice staff. The indoor AND outdoor spaces were cute (there was even a bar outside). And the food was so good and affordable. Literally everything we got was good. When we visited they only were serving appetizers and drinks, so we proceeded to order just about the entire appetizer menu. My drunk (cachucha $16) was delicious and my friends got the classic mojito which they enjoyed ($15). My fav food was the cod croquette and the Cuban nachos but like I said everything was soooo good. Would recommend

So I actually love Pilar down -- pre-pandemic I worked at a nearby bar & would grab takeout from here all the time. I've had so many delicious meals from here that carried me through a shift! Yesterday was my first time visiting since the pandemic, and I was seeing a show in the area but very early so I stopped in for a light meal. My favorite used to be the croquetas + the grilled cheese, so I wanted exactly that. My server was sweet and attentive, and I brought a good book, so it was a vibe. The ONLY reason this isn't a full five stars was because the prices really shocked me. I used to pay around $25 for that meal -- and in looking over older yelp fotos -- the grilled cheese used to be $12 and the croquetas $8. Now? The Grilled Cheese is $19 and the croquetas $13. They don't provide physical menus anymore -- just the QR code thing restaurant's are doing these days, so I couldn't take an updated picture. If you're visiting for the first time in a while, make sure you double check current prices before you head out! I made my peace with spending basically $50+ for lunch, but lord! All that being said, this grilled cheese is still possibly my favorite grilled cheese ever-- the bread is incredible, the cheese mix is amazing, and the maduros are always perfectly sweet and ripe, and i! love! these! chips! Love Pilar, just wish I could afford to grab it as often as I used to.

TOTAL YUM. The sandwich was absolute perfection, I loved the plantain chips with hot sauce. The space itself is super cute and I saw they offer HH deals at the bar so I'll definitely be back. This is a great space to meet a friend for lunch or dinner or even a first date. It's casual enough, fun enough and yummy enough! Service was fast and attentive. 5/5

My wife and I came here with close friends and family to have a nice dinner together to catch up. The place is somewhat small, but it wasn't too busy so we were still able to hear each other pretty easily. The vibe of the place is cute - I especially love the neon sign out front. I wasn't too keen on the music they were playing, it felt a little too "clubby" and not super chill. Service was great, I really appreciated that the food and drinks came out really quickly. I do kinda wish that the server would have checked up on us a bit more frequently to ask if we wanted more drinks and how things were going. The food itself - I wouldn't say it's super authentic. The cubano was pretty mid, and I felt like the veggie platter I had was lacking in the magic and flavor that I was really craving. However, the plantain chips were super bomb and the veggie platter at least delivered on the assortment and variety of the meal. The drinks were pretty good - I had a passionfruit mojito which was really strong and tasty! Overall, I'd search for a different Cuban spot to check out. I really like Havana Outpost, and I think it would be tough to top that spot (especially in the summer).

Brunch here. Some very good food and surprisingly good vegetarian options for a Cuban food place. Plantain chips were perfect. Cuban grilled cheese and some other brunch plates very filling. Service friendly and efficient.

I came here on a Saturday a was pleasantly surprised. I heard mixed messages about this spot but I wanted to try for myself! The young lady who served us was very sweet and quick. Actually the whole staff seem helpful and kind. I ordered the eggs with butter beans, avocado salad and leek potato croquettes. The portion size was ok im greedy so I would've have appreciated more beans. But I also ordered the homemade chorizo, which was tasty! Everyone at my table enjoyed our meals, they were filling but not heavy I had a lovely time great place for a late breakfast.

really laid back and friendly. I've always managed to get a seat and they have outdoor dining in the summer. Mostly the tables are for 2-4 people and they have about 15 tables in the restaurant. I love the drives, I usually get la reine but I also recommend la cucharacha. For brunch I do recommend the coffee but the cappuccino is really large, about the size of a small soup bowl. So be mindful of the size when you order. I love the Vaca frita, the Mahi Mahi with garlic Sherry sauce and the pérnil. Of the desserts the très leche is outstanding. The wait staff is super sweet and helpful with recommendations and really patient too. I would definitely come back here

Came here for a friends birthday. We all sat down and I was already digging the reggaeton Playlist. The service was impeccable the whole night. We ordered a ton of food and drinks. Highlights were (still) the yucca fries. The potato croquetas were great. Also ordered the enchilado de pescado which was decent. For drinks we did pitchers of pink flamingo ( good if you like mezcal) and spicy margaritas (good if you like very spicy drinks). Overall I was more impressed this time around than my previous visit years ago. Would recommend for parties up to 10 people.

Had the nicest, most comfortable meal of my trip to the city here today. Everything about this place is in my comfort zone, particularly Cuban music which I adore and listen to aplenty. But the food... Proving I'm an unrealiable vegetarian which I already knew, I ordered the vegan platter which is white rice and black beans, avocado, plantains, a salad that contained corn, something that resembled tempura yucca (I think) and it all came with a side of smoking hot habanero sauce loaded with flavor. Nice. Side of pollo because, well, like I said. And to top it off, a Cafe con leche especial, meaning sweetened with condensed coconut milk. The bomb. Now, I *am* an expert on all things rice and beans and these were pretty decent black beans, and I appreciated they didn't kick them over the moon with too many things meant to impress. Just solid, and tasty. Can't wait to get home to make my own. Great indoor vibe with old style ceiling fans, yet air conditioned. Nice floor tiling that harkens to the island style. Plenty of rum drinks being prepared. Hemingway would have felt right at home. Pricey, a bit, but compared to what? I paid way too much for a particularly crappy breakfast this morning that utterly disappointed and cost half this. What's the price of utter disappointment? When I'm really happy with the food, price is secondary. I'm dine here again in a heartbeat. Staff was first-rate, sanitation and protocols clearly being closely observed, always appreciated in these unprecedented times we're hoping end soon.
